"DAMN GOOD PLASTIC BOTTLE" For the founders of BE O a damn good plastic bottle is a biobased one. That’s why they choose Green PE (Bio-PE) and Terraprene (Bio-TPE) for the production of their novel bottle. Thanks to the unique modular design the reusable water bottle takes less space and is easy to clean. In addition it is dishwasher proof and 100% recyclable.
Editorial dear readers It’s spring again, the bioplastics calendar of events is filling fast, and we have a busy time ahead. First up: our inaugural bio!TOY conference, held in the TOY-CITY of Nuremberg, Germany and focused on the use of biobased plastics in toys and leisure applications has just concluded. All were agreed that it was a very good meeting. Read our comprehensive report in the next issue. The next big event is the annual Chinaplas trade fair, which this year is being held in Guangzhou. Our show preview, including a detachable Show Guide with floorplan, can be found on pp. 30-31. As soon as we return from China, it’s time for the 3 rd edition of the bio!PAC conference on biobased packaging, again in Düsseldorf, Germany, which we are organizing in cooperation with Caroli Buitenhuis (see cover photo) of Green Serendipity. Have a look at the programme on page 8 – and we encourage you to register now, to reserve your seat. It goes almost without saying that the really big event this year takes place in Düsseldorf in October: the triennial K Show, where for the fourth time we’ll be hosting our Bioplastics Business Breakfast. The breakfast meeting was extended by a fourth day to cover PHA as a highlight topic. The call for papers is open. We are looking forward to your contributions. It’s also not too early to submit proposals for the 2019 edition of the Global Bioplastics Award. If you have a product or service that deserves to be recognized with this award or perhaps you know of someone who does, please let us know. We’ll announce the winner at the 14 th European Bioplastics Conference on the 3 rd of December in Berlin, Germany. Getting back to this issue of bioplastics MAGAZINE, the highlight topics include Thermoforming / Rigid Packaging and Bioplastics in Building & Construction. This is rounded off, as usual, by some of the most recent news items on materials and applications to keep you abreast of the latest innovations and ongoing advances in the world of bioplastics. I look forward to seeing you at one of the many events this year. Until then, please enjoy reading this latest issue of bioplastics MAGAZINE.
