GOOD FOOD DESERVES GOOD PACKAGING We always trust the food we eat is good and is produced in a good manner. To comply with food produced with care, it should be wrapped in quality packaging. Food packaging material that is based on renewable raw materials contributes to this idea. Bioplastics made by FKuR allow creating sustainable and high quality packaging in various shapes; e.g. foil trays, tubings or bottles. Depending on the type of disposal, you have the choice between compostable and recyclable resins. Naturally, our resin grades received food contact approval according to EN 10/2011 and US FDA. Editorial dear readers Dear Readers, today, the calendar marks the first day of spring, but there’s still snow and frost outside, at least here in Germany. However, as the days lengthen, the pace of life is once again picking up, with busy times coming. Just days after you WWW.MATERBI.COM COME TO VISIT US AT receive this issue of bioplastics MAGAZINE, we will be travelling to Chinaplas, which this year is being held at the new National Exhibition and Convention Center, in Hongqiao, Shanghai (NECC). The beginning of May will see us travelling to Orlando, Florida, for NPE 2018: The Plastics Show, the triennial international plastics manufacturing exposition organized by the US Plastics Industry Association. In the present issue, you’ll find a Show Guide for both exhibitions with a list of the exhibitors presenting bioplastics-related products or services; or at least those, that were registered in the official catalogues. The Show Guides also include a floorplan to make your visit as easy as possible. Comprehensive show reviews are scheduled for the next issue of bioplastics MAGAZINE. In early February, I visited the International Toy Fair (Spielwarenmesse) in Nuremberg, Germany - reason enough to make Toys one of our highlight topics of this issue. The overwhelming number of articles that we received on this topic underlines the fact that toys are one of the most interesting fields of applications for biobased plastics. 14-18 MAY 2018 messe mÜnchen HALL 5 • stand 323 adv mela se tore_bioplasticmagazine_03.04_2018_flagIFAT_210x297_ese.indd 1 07/03/18 12:53 r3_03.2018 bioplastics MAGAZINE Vol. 13 ISSN 1862-5258 Highlights Thermoforming | 10 Toys | 18 Basics Mechanical Recycling | 52 Cover Story: Toy bricks from bio-PE | 22 Preview: The second highlight topic is thermoforming and rigid packaging, while in the Basics section, we publish the first chapter of a series on Recycling of bioplastics.
